Stomach I can only have water at the moment, but it feels like I have swallowed something and its stuck in my throat. Could it be the stent on the move. Has anyone else had a similar experience

I have never had a stent myself, but I understand from others that you do 'feel' them inside, and that they can move. It may be that the nerve system makes it feel as if the obstruction is in a different place from where it is in fact located.

Waiting for leaks to heal can be a very long, dispiriting process, but one usually gets there in the end after weeks of wishing that something, anything, can be done to speed up the body's natural healing processes.

It is also very hard being on just water, or ice cubes. I can remember feeling frustrated that the surgeons were not seeming to be doing anything other than waiting for my leak to heal, but in hindsight they were quite right in their decisions not to intervene.

You do need to let the surgeons know straight away that the stent has shifted as they will wish to check it out. If, as you say, it is temporary and may not be doing the job it was intended for because it has migrated, the sooner they can have a look at it the better. I do not know much about temporary stents but if they are temporary, there must be a procedure for removing them.

If it is causing you pain, I would let the Upper GI specialist nurse know. And I would let them know in advance anyway as they may need to organise an X-ray etc whilst you are there, and it may help them if they need to re-arrange / bring forward your appointment anyway.

I had my op last May, I also had to have a temporary stent fitted to cover a leak. and it migrated. I had it removed in August, I also could only drink water. I also had a feeding tube I had that removed three weeks ago. It will get better though as I can eat now but still have to be careful what I am eating. It is a long process, but you will feel better soon.

Hope you are soon able to eat normally
